1. Define its function in the finished item
Will the material package, cover, protect, block light or form part of a structure? A blackout curtain and transparent packaging use PVC for different purposes. Describe the function before choosing a thickness.
2. Specify the conversion process
Cutting, sewing, welding and adhesive bonding influence the selection. Specify your machinery, joining method and any process limitations. Do not assume that a configuration performs the same way on every machine.
3. Compare structure, feel and finish
Unreinforced film, textile-backed sheet and multilayer material are different constructions. Gloss, transparency, embossing and feel also affect the result. Compare physical samples whenever appearance and texture are decisive.
4. Plan dimensions and material yield
Bring the item dimensions and cutting plan to the discussion. Width and supply format help estimate consumption, joins and offcuts. To calculate quantities, consider your actual production layout.
5. State performance requirements
When a project requires a specific standard, resistance level or service condition, state the criterion and request the corresponding documentation. An illustrated application does not constitute certification.
6. Validate and confirm the order
Request a sample assessment, run tests in your process and confirm configuration, tolerances, colours, volume and lead time. Each product summary helps organise your selection; the current technical data sheet guides final validation.
